Which AI subscriptions are worth your sats in 2026
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and Poe compared on what a year costs in Bitcoin, what each is best at, and which one to skip if you only buy one.
Every big AI lab now sells roughly the same thing at roughly the same price: a $20-a-month plan that lifts the limits, and one or more $100-plus plans for people who live in the tool. The differences are in what each assistant is good at, how the yearly price works, and how you can pay for it without a card.
This guide compares the plans we sell for Bitcoin, using the price you'd actually pay here for a year. All figures are for US accounts. Other countries pay the vendor's local price, converted at the European Central Bank's daily rate.
The $20 tier, priced for a year
Our price is the vendor's price minus 30% for a 12-month term, plus our fee. Where the vendor has its own yearly price, we start from that.
| Plan | Vendor price for a year | 12 months here, in BTC at checkout | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Pro | $200 (yearly plan) | $152.40 | $12.70 |
| Google AI Pro | $199.99 (yearly plan) | $152.39 | $12.70 |
| Perplexity Pro | $200 (yearly plan) | $152.40 | $12.70 |
| Poe Plus | $199.99 (yearly plan) | $152.39 | $12.70 |
| ChatGPT Plus | $240 (12 × $20, no yearly plan) | $182.08 | $15.17 |
| SuperGrok | $300 (yearly plan) | $226.60 | $18.88 |
| X Premium (includes Grok) | $84 (yearly gift) | $64.68 | $5.39 |
You pay once, in bitcoin or another coin, and nothing renews. Shorter terms cost a little more per month: 3 months of most $20 plans is $56.10, or $18.70 a month.
What each one is good at
ChatGPT Plus is the generalist. It has the widest set of tools in one place: voice, image creation, deep research, custom GPTs, projects and the Codex coding agent. If you want one assistant for everything and don't want to think about it, this is it. It's also the only one in this table without a yearly discount at the vendor, which is why a 12-month term here saves the most against the sticker price. See our ChatGPT walk-through.
Claude Pro is the one many writers and programmers settle on. It's strong at long documents, careful reasoning and code, and Pro includes Claude Code, Anthropic's terminal coding agent. It arrives as an official gift link, so it works in every country Claude serves. See Claude Pro or Max in Bitcoin.
Google AI Pro is the best value if you already use Gmail, Docs and Drive. You get Gemini with higher limits, Gemini inside Docs and Sheets, Deep Research, video generation and 5 TB of Google storage on top. If you'd otherwise pay Google for storage, the AI is close to free. See Google AI Pro with Bitcoin.
Perplexity Pro is a search engine first. It answers with sources, lets you choose among several top models, and handles file uploads. If most of your AI use is looking things up, it beats a chat assistant. See Perplexity Pro with crypto.
SuperGrok gives you xAI's Grok with much higher limits, image and video generation, and live data from X. It costs more than the others at the standard tier. See SuperGrok with Bitcoin.
Poe Plus is one app with many models from different labs side by side, paid with a monthly allowance of compute points. It suits people who like to compare answers or switch models by task.
X Premium isn't an AI plan as such, but it raises your Grok limits along with the usual X perks. At $64.68 a year it's the cheapest way to get more Grok. Premium+, at $297.09 a year, includes SuperGrok.
The bigger plans
If you hit the $20 limits every day, every vendor has a step up. Prices here for one month:
| Plan | Vendor price per month | 1 month here |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Max 5x | $100 | $110.00 |
| ChatGPT Pro 100 | $100 | $110.00 |
| Google AI Ultra 5x | $99.99 | $109.99 |
| SuperGrok Plus | $100 | $110.00 |
| Claude Max 20x | $200 | $216.00 |
| ChatGPT Pro 200 | $200 | $216.00 |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | $199.99 | $215.99 |
| Perplexity Max | $200 | $216.00 |
| SuperGrok Heavy | $300 | $322.00 |
The same term discounts apply to longer runs. Our fee is tiered, so it shrinks as a share of the price: 10% on the first $100, 6% up to $500 and 3% above that.
Before you buy one of these, check that the limit you keep hitting is the one the bigger plan raises. For coding, Claude Max and ChatGPT Pro raise the agent limits most. For video and storage, Google AI Ultra. For search, Perplexity Max.
Vendors you can pay in Bitcoin directly
A few AI services take bitcoin themselves, and for those you don't need us at all:
- Kagi, the search engine with an AI assistant, takes Bitcoin and Lightning through OpenNode. See Kagi.
- Venice, a private AI chat, takes Bitcoin through BTCPay on its yearly plans. See Venice.
- Proton Lumo can be paid in on-chain Bitcoin from Proton's account settings. See Proton Lumo.
They're good products, but none of them replaces ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for most people. That's why the store exists.

PerplexityHow to choose if you buy only one
- Use the free tiers for a week. Notice which one you open without thinking. That's your answer more often than any benchmark.
- Match the job. Long writing and code: Claude. Everything at once: ChatGPT. Google Workspace: Gemini. Research with citations: Perplexity.
- Buy 12 months if you're sure, 3 if you're not. The year is about a third cheaper per month, but three months lets you change your mind.
- Don't stack two $20 plans by default. Most people who pay for two use one.
Whichever you pick, payment works the same: choose the plan, pay in on-chain Bitcoin within the 30-minute window, and the plan arrives on your own account, usually within a few hours of one confirmation. How it works shows each step, and the Bitcoin guide covers wallets and fees.
Questions about choosing an AI plan
Which AI subscription is the best value in 2026?
For most people, Google AI Pro, because the 5 TB of storage has value on its own. For pure AI use, Claude Pro and Perplexity Pro at $12.70 a month on a yearly term are the cheapest of the major $20 plans here.
Is it cheaper to pay in Bitcoin than by card?
On terms of 3 months or more, usually yes, because our term discount is larger than our fee. A year of ChatGPT Plus is $182.08 here against $240 at OpenAI's monthly price.
Can I switch to a different assistant halfway through?
Not with a refund. Once a plan is delivered, the vendor won't take it back. That's the main reason to start with 3 months if you're unsure.
Do any of these plans renew automatically?
Not when bought here. You pay once for the term, and the account returns to the free tier at the end unless you buy again.
