Before you send XRP
- The destination tag is mandatory. Without it the payment can’t be linked to your order.
- On an exchange, the tag goes in the field called Tag, Memo or Destination tag.
- XRP addresses start with r.
Sending XRP on XRP Ledger, step by step
Self-custody wallet
- 01Check your balance covers the amount due plus the network fee (a small fraction of a cent).
- 02Select XRP on XRP Ledger on your order page and leave that tab open.
- 03Open Xaman, or whichever XRP wallet you use, hit Send and select XRP.
- 04This QR code holds the address only. Scan or paste it, then enter the amount by hand from the order page.
- 05Fill in the destination tag from the order page. Skip it and the payment can’t be tied to your order.
- 06Before sending, compare the first and last four characters of the address (Begins r, and comes with a destination tag) and the amount, digit for digit.
- 07Approve the transfer.
- 08Leave the order page open. It refreshes itself when your transaction shows up, and marks it paid after a few seconds.
Exchange account
- 01Select XRP on XRP Ledger on your order page and use the exchange option there. It switches to a QR code with the address only, plus copy buttons.
- 02In the exchange, go to Withdraw (some call it “Send”) and select XRP.
- 03Set the network to XRP Ledger (XRP). Most lost payments start at this step.
- 04Paste the address, then copy the destination tag from the order page into the exchange’s Tag or Memo box. Don’t skip it.
- 05Type the amount due plus the exchange’s withdrawal fee, or the fee comes out of your payment. The adder below does the sum. Where the form shows a “receive” figure, make that one equal the amount due.
- 06Approve it with 2FA or the email link. Exchanges sometimes hold a withdrawal for review, most often the first one to a new address.

- Skipping the destination tag. Without it we have no way to tie the payment to your order.
